Teaser Tuesday: November 4

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly book meme originally featured at Should Be Reading. To participate, just open the book you are currently reading to a random page, and choose two ‘teaser’ sentences from somewhere on that page. (no spoilers!)

I’ve committed myself to a real beast of a book this week, the 830 paged book called The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton which so far has been a pleasant, Victorian-style read. Hope you enjoy the quote.

“His relief has made him reckless. Balfour said, ‘So you’re out to catch him, now? Lauderback’s eyes were shining, ‘I shall expose him,’ he said. ‘I shall expose Francis Carver, and take Godspeed back again.’ ” (77)

Have you read this book or anything else by Eleanor Catton? What did you think? Would love to read your opinions!

  1. “The waggoner’s steps were heard returning. She put the glass in the paper, and the whole again into its place.” Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy, p. 55. Gabriel watches a young woman steal a glance of herself in the looking glass. This sets up his intrigue for her.
